One of the most commonly asked questions we here is, “Is Lasik Permanent?”  Most people who wear glasses or contacts live for the day they will no longer be necessary, but the idea that there could be a permanent solution often seems impossible.

The Lasik procedure is permanent.  Dr. Gary Tylock, certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, will use a laser to reshape your cornea leaving a permanent alteration to your eye.  Over time, as we age, our eyes change and these changes can affect the results of your Lasik procedure.  However, for most patients, Lasik is the permanent alternative to glasses or contacts they’ve been looking for.

Lasik is a fast procedure, and can often be completed in as little as 15 minutes; in most cases patients see results before they even leave the office.  Because the procedure takes so little time, Dr. Tylock is able to spend time making sure the procedure is completed correctly, and you leave his office with the best results possible.

It is very rare for patients to ever have to under go the procedure a second time.  Of the small percentage of patients that do require a second procedure, their original eyesight required a very strong prescription (ie +/- 4).  Changes in vision caused by age are as common with patients who have had Lasik as those who have not.  As we age the muscles in our eyes weaken. This is called presbyopia and is often confused with being farsighted.  Many times people who have never worn glasses before find themselves needing reading glasses later in life and this is not something that can be corrected in advance or avoided.

With more than 30 years of experience, Dr. Gary Tylock is considered a leading Lasik surgeon, not only in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, but also across the country.  Because of his vast knowledge and experience you can be confident that you have found the best Lasik surgeon.
