Dr. Gary Tylock Announces the Addition of Dr. Michael George
Dr. Gary Tylock would like to welcome Dr. Michael George to his practice in Irving, TX. Dr. George recently completed his fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the Wang Institute in Nashville before joining Tylock Eye Center. While at the Wang Institute Dr. George specialized in full-thickness corneal transplants, corneal endothelial transplants, Boston Keratoprosthesis (artificial cornea) surgery, Intacs Corneal implants for Keratoconus, as well as numerous refractive (Lasik and PRK) and cataract surgeries. Because of his interest in advanced technology intraocular lens calculations, Dr. George assisted with topography consultations at laser centers across the country. In addition to his hands-on experience and years of research, Dr. George has been published in Review of Ophthalmology and The Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. George is a native Louisianian who attended Louisiana State University where he received an undergraduate degree in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry. He then attended medical school in New Orleans where he spent his clinical years’ training in the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina devastation. Following his clinical rotations, Dr. George spent an additional year in New Orleans to complete an internship in Internal Medicine, where he received the intern of the year award. During his internship, Dr. George assisted the residents of the damaged city as they rebuilt their lives and homes, working with organizations such as the Cajun Dome Housing Unit, where he assisted with much-needed medical care in the days following the storm. Dr. George spent his three-year residency at the University of Louisville before pursuing his additional year of subspecialty fellowship training at the Wang Institute in Nashville and now has joined Dr. Tylock’s practice here in Irving, TX.
