Before You Arrive: Final Prep
In the days leading up to surgery, you’ll receive clear instructions from our team, including:
- When to stop wearing contact lenses
- What medications (if any) to avoid
- What to eat or drink the morning of surgery
Most patients are advised to arrange transportation, as you won’t be driving yourself home after the procedure.
Step 1: Arrival and Check-In
You’ll arrive at our office or surgery center and check in at the front desk. Our team will:
- Review your paperwork
- Confirm your medical history
- Answer any last-minute questions
We want you to feel fully informed and cared for from the moment you walk in.
Step 2: Prepping for Surgery
Once checked in, you’ll be guided to a comfortable pre-op area where we’ll:
- Administer a mild sedative to help you relax
- Apply numbing eye drops—no needles or general anesthesia needed
- Clean and prep the area around your eyes to ensure a sterile environment
You’ll be awake and alert during the procedure but should feel calm and at ease.
Step 3: The EVO ICL Procedure
You’ll be brought into the surgical suite, where the procedure typically takes 15–20 minutes per eye.
Here’s what happens:
- The surgeon creates a tiny opening at the edge of your cornea.
- The folded EVO ICL is inserted through the opening.
- The lens gently unfolds and is positioned behind your iris and in front of your natural lens.
You won’t feel pain—just a little pressure or a sensation of cool fluid as your eye is cleaned and hydrated. Most patients say the experience is easier than expected.
Step 4: Post-Op Monitoring
After surgery, you’ll relax in a recovery area while we monitor your initial healing. Once cleared by your surgeon, you’ll be given:
- Post-operative instructions
- Prescription eye drops to prevent inflammation and infection
- Protective sunglasses to wear on the way home
You’ll need someone to drive you, and we recommend taking the rest of the day easy.
Step 5: First 24 Hours
Your vision may be blurry or hazy at first, but many patients report noticeable improvement within a few hours. You may experience:

- Slight grittiness or watery eyes
- Halos or glare in the evening (temporary)
Avoid rubbing your eyes and follow all post-op instructions carefully.
