Your LASIK Experience
10–15 minutes for both eyes
The laser itself runs 6–15 seconds per eye. You’ll spend more time waiting than in the procedure chair.
💧
Completely painless
Numbing drops are applied before the procedure. Most patients feel only mild pressure, never pain.
👁
See clearly within hours
Most Dallas patients drive themselves to their follow-up appointment the next morning.
📅
Back at work in 24–48 hours
Most patients return to normal activities the day after surgery with no restrictions.

Permanent vision correction. One outpatient procedure.

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) permanently reshapes the cornea using a precision laser so that light focuses correctly on the retina – eliminating or dramatically reducing your dependence on glasses or contacts. The result is stable, long-lasting clear vision.

At Tylock Nasser Vision, every LASIK procedure is customized to your unique eye anatomy using advanced diagnostic mapping. No two eyes are the same, and your treatment plan shouldn’t be either.

How the procedure works

Your surgeon creates a thin corneal flap using a bladeless femtosecond laser. An excimer laser then precisely reshapes the underlying corneal tissue based on your individualized treatment map. The flap is repositioned – no stitches required. Healing begins immediately.

1
Pre-procedure numbing drops
Anesthetic drops are applied to both eyes. You’ll feel comfortable and relaxed throughout.
2
Bladeless flap creation
The Alcon WaveLight FS200 femtosecond laser creates a precise corneal flap in seconds – no blades involved.
3
Laser corneal reshaping
The WaveLight EX500 excimer laser reshapes your cornea to your custom Contoura Vision map at 500Hz speed.
4
Flap repositioned
The flap is gently repositioned and bonds naturally – no sutures. Healing begins within minutes.
5
Immediate recovery
You rest briefly in our recovery area, then go home with drops and protective eyewear. Most patients see clearly by morning.

Life without glasses or contacts

LASIK is one of the most studied elective procedures in medicine, with over 30 years of clinical data. The benefits extend well beyond not needing to search for your glasses in the morning.

🏊
Active lifestyle, unrestricted
Swimming at Lake Lewisville, weekend 5Ks, intramural sports, travel – no more worrying about contacts or waterlogged glasses. LASIK removes the barriers corrective lenses create.
Rapid, dramatic improvement
Most patients notice significantly improved vision within hours of their LASIK procedure. The overnight improvement is one of the most commonly cited surprises from our Dallas patients.
💰
A one-time investment
The average DFW resident spends $400–700 per year on contacts, solution, and glasses. Over 10 years, that’s $4,000–7,000. LASIK typically pays for itself within a few years.
🧠
Confidence in professional settings
Many of our Dallas and Irving patients report increased confidence at work and in social situations after LASIK – no more fogged lenses, slipping frames, or lost contacts during presentations.
🌡
Texas summer–ready
DFW summers mean pool days, outdoor dining, and constant movement. LASIK eliminates contact lens discomfort in heat and wind – and no more foggy glasses when stepping from AC to 100° heat.
🎯
Permanent corneal correction
The reshaping of your cornea is permanent. While natural aging (presbyopia after 40) may eventually affect reading vision, the LASIK correction itself is stable and lasting for the vast majority of patients.

Most adults qualify. A free consultation confirms it.

The only way to know for certain whether you’re a LASIK candidate is a comprehensive evaluation. Our free consultation takes about an hour and answers the question definitively – no obligation to book.

✓  Typically good candidates
  • Age 18–45 with stable prescription for 12+ months
  • Nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism
  • Adequate corneal thickness (measured at consultation)
  • No active dry eye disease or untreated conditions
  • Healthy eyes free of disease or injury
  • Realistic expectations about outcomes
⚠  May not qualify for LASIK
  • Prescription changing in the last 12 months
  • Very thin corneas or irregular corneal shape
  • Severe dry eye syndrome
  • Keratoconus (corneal thinning condition)
  • Certain autoimmune or systemic conditions
  • Pregnant or nursing at time of procedure
Not a match for LASIK? That’s not the end of the conversation. EVO ICL is an excellent alternative for patients with thin corneas or high prescriptions. PRK is an option for those in contact sports or military service. All three options are evaluated at your free consultation. Compare LASIK, EVO ICL, and PRK →

The most precise LASIK available in Texas

Not all LASIK is equal. The technology used determines the accuracy of your outcome. Tylock Nasser Vision was the first practice in Texas to offer Contoura Vision topography-guided LASIK – and we continue to set the standard for DFW.

First in Texas
Contoura Vision Topography-Guided LASIK
FDA-approved Contoura Vision maps up to 22,000 unique elevation points on your cornea – far more data than standard LASIK. The result is a treatment customized to the microscopic imperfections in your specific cornea, delivering outcomes that exceed what conventional LASIK can achieve. Patients often report seeing more clearly than they ever could in glasses or contacts.
All-Laser
Alcon WaveLight FS200 Femtosecond Laser
Our bladeless flap creation uses the Alcon WaveLight FS200, operating at 200kHz – one of the fastest femtosecond lasers available. The precision flap it creates is highly consistent in thickness and edge angle, which directly affects the quality and predictability of your visual outcome. No blades, no variation.
500Hz Speed
WaveLight EX500 Excimer Laser
The WaveLight EX500 tracks your eye’s position 1,050 times per second and fires at 500Hz – meaning it corrects your cornea faster and with greater accuracy than older excimer systems. This speed reduces the time your eye is open and exposed, improving patient comfort and outcomes simultaneously.
FDA Approved
WaveLight Refractive Suite Integration
Our complete WaveLight Refractive Suite means the diagnostic data from your pre-op mapping is seamlessly transferred to both lasers – no manual data entry, no transcription error. Your individualized treatment plan follows you from diagnosis to procedure automatically, maintaining total precision at every step.

What patients ask most often

How long does LASIK take?
The LASIK procedure itself takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes for both eyes combined. The laser reshapes your cornea in just 6 to 15 seconds per eye, depending on your prescription. You will spend significantly more time in the pre-op area than in the procedure chair. Plan for about 2 hours at our office on your procedure day, including check-in, preparation, the procedure itself, and a brief recovery period before going home.
Is LASIK painful?
No. Numbing anesthetic drops are applied to both eyes before the procedure begins. The most common sensation during LASIK is brief, mild pressure when the corneal flap is created – not pain. Some patients feel mild grittiness or tearing for the first evening as the drops wear off, but this resolves quickly. The vast majority of our patients describe the experience as far less intense than they anticipated.
When will I see clearly after LASIK in Dallas?
Most patients at Tylock Nasser Vision notice dramatically improved vision within hours of their LASIK procedure. Many patients can drive themselves to their next-morning follow-up appointment. Vision continues to sharpen and stabilize over the following 4 to 6 weeks as your eyes fully heal. The overnight improvement is one of the aspects patients most frequently describe as remarkable.
How much does LASIK cost in Dallas?
LASIK at Tylock Nasser Vision typically ranges from $2,000 to $3,500 per eye, depending on your prescription complexity and the technology selected (standard custom LASIK vs. Contoura Vision topography-guided). We offer flexible financing options including zero-interest payment plans, extended financing terms, and accept HSA and FSA funds. Your exact cost is determined at your free consultation. See our full LASIK cost guide for Dallas for a detailed breakdown.
What is Contoura Vision and why does it matter?
Contoura Vision is FDA-approved topography-guided LASIK that maps up to 22,000 unique points on your cornea – compared to approximately 200 data points used in standard LASIK. This gives us an extraordinarily detailed picture of your cornea’s unique imperfections, allowing for a treatment plan that is truly individualized. Tylock Nasser Vision was the first practice in Texas to offer Contoura Vision, and many patients report seeing more clearly after Contoura LASIK than they ever could in their best glasses or contacts.
Can I wear contacts before my LASIK consultation?
Soft contact lens wearers should discontinue contact use for at least 3 days before their consultation (2 weeks is preferred). Rigid gas-permeable (RGP) or hard contact lens wearers should stop wearing lenses for at least 3 weeks before the consultation. Contacts temporarily alter the shape of your cornea, which can affect the accuracy of your corneal measurements. Accurate measurements are essential for planning a precise treatment.
Is LASIK permanent?
The corneal reshaping performed during LASIK is permanent. Your cornea does not revert to its original shape. However, natural age-related changes in the eye – particularly presbyopia (the gradual loss of near-focus flexibility that affects most people after age 40) and cataract development – can affect your vision over time, independent of LASIK. For the vast majority of patients, LASIK provides stable, lasting correction for their primary refractive error for decades.
