If I’m told I’m not a LASIK candidate, does that mean I can’t fix my vision?
Absolutely not. “Not a LASIK candidate” simply means that the flap-based laser procedure isn’t ideal for your corneal anatomy or prescription. EVO ICL corrects the same vision problems without touching the cornea and works for prescriptions that far exceed LASIK’s range. PRK achieves the same corneal reshaping as LASIK without creating a flap. The vast majority of patients who inquire about vision correction are candidates for at least one of these three procedures.
What are the outcomes like compared – does one give better vision than the others?
Long-term visual outcomes are comparable across all three procedures for appropriate candidates. LASIK with Contoura Vision and EVO ICL both achieve excellent night vision outcomes – many patients report seeing better than they did in glasses. PRK achieves the same long-term outcomes as LASIK, with the initial recovery window being the main tradeoff. Can I switch from EVO ICL to LASIK later, or vice versa?
EVO ICL is reversible – the implanted lens can be removed or replaced if your prescription changes significantly or if you choose a different solution later. Some patients with EVO ICL and remaining corneal thickness later choose to have LASIK to fine-tune their residual prescription. LASIK, being a permanent corneal reshaping, cannot be reversed – though enhancements can be performed if vision changes over time.
