Serving the Dallas / Fort Worth Area – Pre-Operative Eye Surgery Exam

Patients in their late 40s who wear glasses or contact lenses and patients with cataracts have the option of receiving “Advanced Technology Intraocular Lens Implants” at our surgical facility, serving the Dallas / Fort Worth area. This eye surgery procedure is, in essence, the same as cataract surgery, differing only in the type of implant that is placed in the eye – currently the ReSTOR®, TECNIS® Multifocal, and Crystalens® AO implants. This breakthrough in intraocular lens implant technology provides patients with a full range of vision, near to distant, eliminating or reducing the need for reading glasses or bifocals.

Complete Eye Examination

Cataract Eye ExamA comprehensive eye examination is always mandatory prior to any eye surgery, such as cataract removal and laser eye surgery. At the time of your examination, a history of your overall health, as well the health of your eyes, will be discussed. After undergoing corneal mapping, your vision will be measured both with and without corrective lenses. Your muscle balance, pupil size, keratometry, and eye dominance are recorded. After dilation, the physical health of your eyes is then further evaluated. The doctor will check your tear film, corneas, natural lenses for cataracts, your retinas, and optic nerves to rule out any presence of disease, making sure you are a good candidate for eye surgery with an IOL. Your eye pressures will be measured, as well as other indicated testing. Usually, at a follow-up visit other important tests, optical biometry and/or ultrasound, will be used to measure the length of your eyes.

Following the exam, the doctor will discuss your eye health, your candidacy, risks, and possible complications, as well as other alternatives. Our Dallas / Fort Worth patients who undergo the “Advanced Technology Intraocular Lens Implant” procedure may need additional eye surgery to “fine-tune” or maximize their vision after their primary procedure.

Pre/Post-op Instructions

If eye surgery is planned, a technician will review pre-operative and post-operative instructions. Your compliance with these instructions helps to ensure the best possible result from your surgical procedure. A surgery counselor will then discuss pricing and payment options and help you schedule your surgery date. If you are interested in learning more about this procedure, contact Tylock-George Eye Care and Laser Center in Irving, Texas. Serving Dallas / Fort Worth area patients, we can schedule a complete eye surgery evaluation at your convenience.
